Students, above photo, gathered Thursday morning at Landis Green for a prayer circle to promote healing in the wake of the tragedy.
The Florida State University community is a family, according to President John Thrasher, and it is doing everything possible to assist the students and families affected by a campus shooting that took place in the early morning hours of Nov. 20.
"When something like this happens, we all reach out to grab hold of each other," Thrasher said. "We know that this Seminole family will come together."
Thrasher made his remarks during an 11 a.m. news conference Nov. 20 called by Gov. Rick Scott. Thrasher praised the quick response of the university and Tallahassee police departments.
"Their training helped defuse a difficult situation that could have been worse," he said.
Classes will resume Friday, according to Thrasher, and events scheduled for this weekend will go on as planned.
Scott said the hearts of all Floridians are broken for the injured and for the loss of life that occurred on campus.
"We have every confidence that FSU will become a stronger campus as they come together and heal from this tragedy," Scott said.
Students gathered for several events including a prayer circle and a gathering of unity to promote healing in the wake of the tragedy.
